FAQs

For Donors

By ‘high impact social project’, we refer to a project that has a high potential to create a significant positive difference in the lives of some of the underprivileged sections of the society.

Any project with a tangible outcome, that has a long term positive impact for underprivileged people.

Each project on the Reimagine platform is properly vetted before being put up. For individuals who are project organisers, we perform a comprehensive ID verification. For organisations, our due diligence process include more than just document verification. We actually talk to the organisation to get a better understanding about them. In some cases, our relationship managers visit the organisation to form a complete picture.

A good way to start on this is to refer the textbook definition of Theory of Change.

“Theory of Change is essentially a comprehensive description and illustration of how and why a desired change is expected to happen in a particular context. It is focused in particular on mapping out or “filling in” what has been described as the “missing middle” between what a program or change initiative does (its activities or interventions) and how these lead to desired goals being achieved. It does this by first identifying the desired long-term goals and then works back from these to identify all the conditions (outcomes) that must be in place (and how these related to one another causally) for the goals to occur.”

You can find more about the Theory of Change here.

Theory of Change is used by Non-profits throughout the world including Teach For India and The Hunger Project to put forward a clear picture of how and why a change will take place from a particular initiative.

For Organisations:
A good project story should make the donor want to get involved with the project. Clearly explain what the project is, who it benefits and how it will create long term impact. Highlight who you are and what your organisation stands for in the story. If the project offers a reward, this would be a good place to emphasise that. Also include links to any previous work that you have done.

A project timeline is necessary to help you with the project implementation and the donor engagement. This is crucial in helping you build trust with your donor network.

Include major milestones that will lead to the completion of the project. The timeline should show your donors a clear path towards the success of the project.

A project timeline is important to ensure donors know when to expect updates from you about the progress of the project. Remember, they care about the project too. However, things don’t always go as expected but what is key is communicating the reason for the same clearly to the donors in advance. You can even ask them for suggestions or help if you get stuck.

Your project budget should be as comprehensive as possible. Cover everything that you would need for a project. Since prices fluctuate and expenses come up during the course of the project, we suggest keeping 1-2% of the project budget as overhead expenses.

The budget shows that you have done your research and know where and how you will be spending the money you generate. A well made budget goes a long way to building trust with your donors.

Congratulations! This is where the action starts. Reach out to your network and start raising funds for your awesome project. Pro TIP: Don’t forget to make full use of our unique team feature.

Yes, Reimagine provides social media assistance including content creation and social media outreach assistance. We want your project to succeed, just as much as you do and we have designed plans that can help all kinds of projects raise funds.

The funds will be disbursed as decided during the project design, whether this is while the project is live on the platform or after it has been funded. However, all funds disbursed have to be used towards the project.

If the project is not fully funded, you have two options
1. If you feel the project is still possible with the raised funds, with some adjustments, you can communicate the changes to us. Fund disbursement will the proceed as per the new project timeline and budget.
2. If you feel the project is not possible with the raised funds, you can choose to allocate the funds to a similar project in the same cause.
Deadline extensions will be offered on a case by case basis. Please get in touch with your project manager regarding the same.

These are periodical updates that you send to your donor network to keep them engaged with the progress of your project. These updates help the donor understand the impact your are creating and ensure that they stay involved with you for future projects.

Through project updates you can build a strong donor community that can actively help you raise funds for your next project faster.
We strongly recommend sending out good and clear project updates, especially after the project has been funded.

The Reimagine Giving website is designed to enable your donors to connect their favourite messaging apps to receive project updates. All you need to do is log in to your project portal, create a message and press send. For each donor, our messaging system automatically selects the platform they are most likely to view the update on. Yes, our system is intelligent too.

We have created a novel system to deliver reports to donors. While email is great, we believe mobile is better and giving the donor a choice is awesome.

When donors donate through Reimagine, they get to choose where they want to receive their reports (Facebook Messenger, Wechat, Whatsapp apart from good old email).

All reports and updates are then delivered on the donors preferred platform (perfectly formatted and customized).
Our hope through this is to increase donor engagement and ensure people share the project and organiser details with their network.

Yes. You can download the donor list as a CSV file whenever you want by sending a request to ngo@reimaginegiving.org with a subject “Donor List”. We’ll get back to you with the list within 24hrs.

Project Updates are designed to keep the donor engaged with the project and you. If you believe there is any update after the project is completed that would be valuable to the donor, you are free to send those.

Once communication channels are opened to your donors, they stay open. You can use them whenever you want.

A Reimagine Report is an independent third party report created by Reimagine Giving. This will include multimedia such as photos and videos showcasing the project progress and impact. Apart from multimedia, other trust building content such as beneficiary interviews and expense reports will also be present.
